Robert Kulkarni, MD

Robert N. Kulkarni, MD

Board Certified in General (Adult) Psychiatry and in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.

 

Dr. Kulkarni has over 20 years of experience as a Board Certified child, adolescent and adult psychiatrist providing psychiatric consultation and medication management for patients with mental health challenges. Each patient receives an in-depth patient evaluation that provides the basis for         targeted medical treatment to secure long-term medical stability and an improvement in their quality of life.

 

Dr. Kulkarni works with individuals, couples, families, therapists and schools to coordinate effective treatment. Over the course of his career, Dr. Kulkarni has developed extensive clinical expertise and experience in treating: Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Depression, Generalized Anxiety, Panic Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorders.

Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner

Connie Parr is a licensed Pediatric Nurse Practitioner with over 40 years of experience with child, adolescents and young adults.  She graduated from Aurora University with her BSN and from Rush Presbyterian St Luke's Hospital with her Advanced Practice Nursing specialty.     For the last 15 years she has concentrated her work in the area of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity, Learning Disabilities and Emotional Disorders. She is passionate about the patients that she sees and treats. 

She has been involved with the Learning Disabilities Association sitting both at the local, state and national levels.  She has served on many committees along with being Past President of the Learning Disabilities Association both at the state and the National Level.  She continues to travel across the states giving lectures.

Olushola Shobowale, PMHNP

Olushola is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC). Olushola earned her Master of Science in Nursing from Walden University. She also received her Associate of Nursing degree from Saint Catherine University in Minnesota and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Benedictine University, Lisle, Illinois. Olushola has over 7 years of experience working in an inpatient unit as a mental health nurse and as an assessment and referral (intake nurse) in the emergency department. Olushola has experience working with patients across the lifespan. 

Olushola’s focus is on the treatment of mood disorders, trauma, anxiety, psychotic disorders, neurodevelopmental health disorders- ADHD, impulse control disorder, substance abuse, and other chronic mental illnesses. Olushola is passionate about providing quality compassionate patient care, and building a trusting therapeutic relationship is one of her important virtues. Olushola believes in creating an individualized care plan that considers patients’ values, beliefs, and opinions.

Michele Filecia, LCSW

Michele has over 27 years of experience.  She began her career providing an array of clinical services to individuals and families at the DuPage County Health Department. Michele has worked in the mental health field, providing treatment for adolescents, young adults, and families on a wide variety of issues including Depression, Anxiety, ADHD, Personality Disorders, and Conduct Disorder. She has also supervised clinical staff and developed an extended care program to meet the long-term needs of families in the community.

 

Michele also works as a school social worker in the western suburbs.  Working in a school district Michele has vast knowledge of special education law and school policy and can also serve as advocate for your family when trying to navigate the school system.  Michele has a good understanding of what life skills children and adolescents need to succeed. Michele brings energy and enthusiasm to her clinical work. She is passionate about serving individuals and families who are struggling.

Kay offers a calming and gentle approach to clients that enhances their comfort levels and allows for open discussion of problem areas. Together you will investigate coping skills and factors that cause and contribute to their issues. Together, you will investigate coping skills and factors that will diminish symptoms and work toward resolution of the life issues. In the words of one client: "If what I have to say doesn't upset you, then maybe it isn't as bad as I feared."  Mood disorders, autism spectrum disorders, relationship conflicts as well as loss and grief issues are among Kay's treatment specialties.

 

From early days of Kay's career, she has come to realize that most people are grieving these losses in their lives. Be it a relationship,  a traumatic childhood, the disappointment of not achieving life's goals or an illness; we mourn what could have been and what's gone.

 

Her 25 year career has provided her with the opportunity to work with clients of all ages and with varying problems and conditions. Her most recent work as a Bereavement Counselor in a hospice setting has allowed her to put into practice her many years of training.

Valerie Ball, Psy. D.

Dr. Ball earned her doctorate from Midwestern University. She has worked in a variety of settings such as integrated care clinics, hospitals, and outpatient centers. She also has specialized training and experience in health and pediatric psychology. Dr. Ball has significant expertise in behavioral therapies, training medical residents, and collaborative healthcare. 

 

Dr. Ball's clinical work focuses on fostering a broad range of evidence-based skills that encourage individuals to live in ways that are consistent with personal values. Her practice of therapy is influenced by acceptance and commitment (ACT), cognitive behavioral (CBT), and dialectical behavioral (DBT) approaches. She has particular expertise and interest in working with youth that struggle with ADHD, anxiety, depression, impulse control, identity development, and coping with life stressors.  

 

As a clinician, Dr. Ball is committed to providing a personalized, holistic experience that is nonjudgmental. Dr. Ball brings warmth, energy, and humor to her work that is relatable to youth and families struggling to find personal fulfillment and success.

Mike has over 27 years of experience working with adolescents and young adults in both the private and public sectors. He specializes in working with individuals with Depression, Anxiety, ADHD, relationship issues, substance abuse, academic difficulties, and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder.

 

Mike is strengths based in his approach with clients but utilizes cognitive behavioral and dialectal behavioral approaches to identify the attitudes and beliefs of his clients that hinder personal growth, while empowering them to achieve success in life. Mike has also been working as a school social worker for 27 years in the western suburbs of Chicago, providing individual counseling and facilitating a variety of student support groups.

 

Mike’s other professional roles include serving as a field instructor for master’s degree candidates in social work, presenting at Parent University workshops, facilitating district parenting groups, and serving as the social work coordinator for the school district he is employed.  Working in a school district Mike has vast knowledge of special education law and school policy and can also serve as advocate for your family when trying to navigate the school system.

Dr. Martha Angel has been an individual and family psychotherapist for over twenty-five years; she graduated with her doctorate in Psychology in 2006. She has expertise in working with individuals with history of Adverse Childhood Experiences, Anxiety, and Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity. She also works with youth involved in the Juvenile Justice System who are at risk of reoffending due to history of unresolved trauma.

 

Dr. Angel has been in private practice since 2003 and she provides interventions from several treatment approaches such as systemic and structural family therapy, cognitive behavioral and Dialectical Behavior Therapy. Treatment goals are created to promote affect regulation, empowerment, age appropriate decision making, and self-competency. She is bilingual in Spanish and English.

Pam brings  a unique level of warmth, compassion, energy, and enthusiasm to her clinical work. As a dedicated and supportive professional, she utilizes strength-based,  practical-solution focused treatments such as CBT AND ACT, along with the benefit of alternate healing techniques Which may include mindfulness and meditation.

 

Changes in life are normal, whether it is unexpected or planned these changes can affect us individually, our families, marriages, careers/jobs, friendships and other parts of our lives.  If these changes have led you to feeling increasingly depressed or anxious, Pam provides counseling to clients that want to understand and minimize how these issues affect their day to day lives. With the goal of finding them long-term, healthy patterns and balance, Pam has enthusiasm to use her training to help each client find relief from unpleasant and unwanted feelings, emotions, and behaviors.
